Top 7 Favorite Authors

This blog will not only be about books I'm going to review, but also about some different opinions I have about books or, like the title says, some of my favorite authors. Here are my top 7 favorite authors.

1: J.K. Rowling. I love the Harry Potter series more than any series of books I've ever read, the way she envelops her readers in the story is just beyond perfect. The detail she goes into is mind-blowing and I appreciate all the minute details she adds into her books, that make them just that much better. Every time I read them again, I always find something I missed. That's probably why I've gone through the series five times and still love it.

2: Stephen King. "The King", the "Master of Horror", and his pseudonym "Richard Bachman" is one of my favorite authors of all time. The way he presents the characters in his stories is nothing short of genius. I'm in the middle of "The Stand" right now (which is really good so far) but my favorite book of his would have to be "The Long Walk" though "The Shining" and "Carrie" are not far behind.

3: Veronica Roth. As far as I know, Veronica Roth's work is not very well known, but ever since I read "Divergent" (which I could not put down, by the way) I have been excited to see what she comes out with next.  The dystopian civilizaton she presents to her readers is well crafted and very realistic.

4: Suzanne Collins. I love The Hunger Games so much that it is insane. I'm a guy, I enjoy the blood and gore of the Arena, but I also love the inner fight in Katniss. Katniss is a amazing character and just thinking back on the way Collins shows us what she is thinking is why I love her books so much.

5: J. R. R. Tolkien. I read The Hobbit just before the movie came out (I had previously read The Fellowship of the Ring) and I loved it! The fantasy world of Middle Earth and The Shire is sure to stick with anyone that reads these books. Bilbo Baggins is a character that anyone can love and the way he handles every situation makes his character stand out from the crowd.

6: James Patterson. As a teenager, I feel that some of James Patterson's work was made just for my generation. The Maximum Ride series in particular. The way he makes the books serious but still finds ways to make parts of it funny is crazy. I also loved Witch & Wizard, I haven't gotten through the whole series yet but the first book was very promising. If you're between 14-20 (maybe even older than that) I would suggest reading some of the books I suggested above.

7: Rick Riordan. I felt that I had to add Rick Riordan because he was a personal inspiration of mine because you just have to appreciate the way he tells the story and because after reading Percy Jackson is when I really started getting into books. The movie didn't do justice to the book, which was a disappointment, but if you've only seen the movie and didn't like it, I strongly encourage you to read the book.

Thanks for reading! Feel free to comment on authors I should have added or should take off the list! - C.B.
